Suzette Rocca

I have been a part of music and dance for as long as I can remember. My mother was a musician, and both her and my father were singers who together, formed a Flamenco music and dance company. When I was 18, I trained for 3 years full-time in classical ballet and contemporary dance at The London Studio Centre. I went on to have an exciting ten-year career in professional dance with work that ranged from artistic and experimental to entertaining and commercial.Towards the end of my time as a professional dancer, I qualified as a Fitness Instructor and Personal Trainer.

Thirteen years ago I began teaching creative dance to children. In 1998, having started my own family, I began developing original, contemporary and relevant material for teaching creative dance to pre-school and primary aged children. I began to work alongside musician and composer Maria Tolly as well as collaborating with other artists to produce this work that is designed to link with the National Curriculum. My vision was, and is, for dance to be used as a medium within the curriculum, to raise achievement levels for children across the board.
